First of all, when we got inside, despite the fact that there were nice sittings by the windows we've got seats by kitchen, and I hate it! After we've being sitting there for about 5 minutes and nobody even stopped by our table, I asked staying nearby waiter if somebody going to take care of us, and he pointed at guy, who was happily chatting at next table with somebody else! I guess it was friends or relatives, cause our waiter has spent most of his time by that table cheering people up. Now, about the food. Appetizers were good - coconut shrimps and fried calamari. For main course I've ordered burger, my wife - key west grupper. The burger was absolutely mediocre, I guess you can't really expect excellent burger plate in oyster bar, so we've held our expectations high for a fish. And, as we found later, with no avail. The grupper filet was hardly discoverable under pile of mayonnaise, that was suppose to be a garlic sauce. So, please forgive us for thinking for a minute that we should leave no tips to our dismissive waiter (at some point I saw him rolling eyes on us, while we where deciding about our order!). We did leave tips, but we never coming back, sorry!

Great oysters! My kids loved them and we all feasted on 3 dozen of these lovelies! Nice atmosphere and a real good meal from the shrimp, to the stuffed flounder to the Alfredo an the burger. Solid place and good flavors!

  • Drew H.

the service was terrible, and the oysters were the tiniest that I have ever seen. IMO, they were not suitable for sale. Overall, the food is mediocre at best and the service is a joke.

  • William R.

I would avoid this place. The food is way over-priced. The salad was very plain with bad salad dressing and our food was very generic.

I love PJ's! I usually get the shrimp scampi which is very good. It's definitely worth the price because there's a good portion of shrimp, plus it comes with garlic bread and two sides. I get the salad and French fries as my side which are very good. The onion rings are also very tasty - just make sure you ask for them extra crispy. The servers are always nice and the food is consistent. The atmosphere is great. Usually waits in season (winter) so you may need to make reservations.

It's been ages since we visited PJs, but I still remember it quite well. We ordered whitefish sandwiches, a dozen oysters, and a couple beers and it was a great meal. We're dying to get back here as soon as possible.

Delicious stone crab dinner for only $20! The most popular item there must be the oysters on a shell. Loved the decor too-- paper towels hanging from the ceiling at the ready!

food taste like it was frozen...if you like extra batter, this is the place for you

We went here on the recommendation of the bell man at our hotel. It was our first meal in town after getting off the plane and checking in, and probably the worst meal of the trip. It defintely wasn't BAD, but it didn't knock our socks off like some of the other places. The service was average, seemed like we were more of a pain even though there were maybe only 5-6 tables total there (mid afternoon). The food was OK. It's not that I wouldn't each there again, but there are many other places in St. Pete Beach where we received better service and better food.

My favorite restaurant on the beach. I've been coming here for at least 10 years. Always great service and awesome food.

I have been going to the other PJ's (in Indian Rocks) since it opened in the 80's. This one I haven't visited as much, but it is still just as good. If you try anything here (besides a dozen raw) try the fried grouper. Always an excellent choice. The seafood has always been fresh and tasty and well portioned. I have a bit of concern that recently the two PJ's came under separate management. Hopefully both will continue to excel as THE local fish joints to visit. Oh and leave a dollar on the wall for charity.

Decent food. Weird service that wasn't really slow but sorta missing. Oysters were not the best (wouldn't go there for just that). Prices are decent and not overpriced. Food is typical but nothing special. Place is hugh so getting a seat is very quick. I would come back again.

Can be very crowded, and is an interesting experience. Food was always fresh & hot. Is a little expensive.

  • Lon W.

Our three kids, Teresa and I went here on a Saturday evening. It was about 15 minutes to get in, it was so packed. For good reason: the oysters were delicious and fairly priced. I had seared tuna and Teresa had grilled amberjack. Both were great. The kids menu has lots of options that our kids liked. $60 all in. A great deal. Service was a little better than I expected for the price and for how busy they were. Great deal.

Solid food, expedited service. When you are ready for a traditional coastal meal, PJs Oyster Bar will not disappoint. Great for fried fish, blackened, or whatever lights your fancy, PJs will get you in and out in no time.

The grouper sandwich was fresh and tasty served on a cornmeal dusted bun. The baked oysters were good but nothing like the grilled oysters at Drago's in Kenner. I'd eat here again.

  • Aundrea H.

Fun atmosphere and your basic seafood menu. The crab cakes and Jakc Daniels salmon are tasty. There are several options for sides with your meal. Service was good & the waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the menu items. They also offer both indoor and outdoor seating, but the outdoor seating does not offer a great view - just of a busy intersection on the main thoroughfare through St. Pete. My family always makes it a point to eat at PJ's at least once during our annual vacation to St. Pete Beach.

i ordered the key west grouper which says it is topped with a garlic cream sauce. i really wanted grouper but then i saw that just under the regular grouper for $1 more and decided to get it as i thought that a garlic cream sauce would be nice....so i thought. when it came out it looked like some weird cheese/cream (possibly mayonnaise?) smothered fish. it looked gross. i couldn't even see the fish. the sauce tasted like a lemon garlic tartar sauce and it was very greasy. for all i know it could have been a cheap white fish underneath as the sauce was so thick it was making up half of what i thought was the thickness of the fish. i ate it because i was hungry but i didn't really like it as it was not what i was expecting. for $1 more i expected just a simple garlic cream sauce lightly over the fish, not 2 cups of cheese/cream sauce smothering it. it definitely was not healthy. i didn't feel that great after eating it either as i'm not used to eating greasy or cream smothered stuff. my father in law ordered some wings and they were super greasy but they tasted okay. my husband liked his clam strips though which is why i gave it 2 stars and not 1. the waitress didn't pay much attention to us. we were a group of 8. the father in law had to remind her about the blue cheese for his wings. grandma had to ask for dressing for her salad. we all ran out of beverages and had to either ask for refills or go without. overall it was......meh to bleh. i sure won't go back by choice.

PJ's is an average seafood restaurant similar to Crabby Bill's like another reviewer mentioned. They have all the regular fried foods...shrimp very lightly breaded which were good, clams, flounder (that was very nice) grouper etc. They oysters they were serving were surprisingly from Galviston and not Appalacicola but I really liked them. They were good. We sat at the bar and service was average. They weren't busy and the bartender said the kitchen was backed up so not sure was happening there. Would I go back? Probably not. I'm from Orlando so next time I go to St. Pete I would rather try out a different place.

    (3)
  • Tina J.

It's a local chain with unmemorable food, similar but better than Crabby Bill's. It's probably bad thing if i couldn't remember at first what I had ordered there 2 days ago. The clam chowder was pretty good w/ chunks of clam. The blackened salmon was tasty and tender; not overcooked which is key. Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance: 3.5 stars, festive beachy Overall: 3 stars

PJs is a really cool looking busy restaurant. Even though I went for take out the service and food was great. We got a less expensive lunch combos: jack daniels salmon with fries. You'd expect the portions to be small since it's cheaper but they were just enough. Tuesday, middle of the day on and they were busy-a good sign of fresh seafood. Next time I'll definitely visit for dinner.

    (4)
  • Jim T.

Tonight was my sixth time at PJs, and went back specifically for some raw oysters. They were amazing. Kids and my wife had grouper, burgers, scallops and a cheesesteak. All were very good, with the cheesesteak perhaps the best, believe it or not. We had calamari as an appetizer, which was not my favorite (of other area restaurants), but the others liked it because it was so tender. I also had some gumbo, which I would skip next time. It was very loud and crowded, so if that bothers you, you might want to skip PJs. However, it was just what we were looking for.

Great stone crab (the jumbo is just right for one determined crab eater) and Chicago oysters. Skip the steamed mussels though.

PJ is one of those place you are sure going to encounter from people talking, Guide book ad, colleaque recommendation, etc etc. About 10 miles from the office I was visiting, I decided to check it out. It was sort of a bar/dinner type of setting with lots of neon outside. Main deco inside were $1 note staple to the wall, with neon, stuff birds and funny signs all over. Almost bring back my college days memories. Menu has lots of stuffs from fish to oyster to croc bites. I ordered a doezn gulf oyster 1/2 shell, oyster rockerfella and grouper. The raw oyster was a total disappointement, it's not much of their fault, the oyster are just poor. It has no taste, no flavor, no ocean smell (nor oil spill), it's even a little rubbery, it almost down right gross. Other then dead stinky oyster, this is probably 2nd worst I ever had. I know they are fresh so I wasn't worry about getting sick, it's just poor tasting oyster. Too bad ! The rockerfella is better because I am eating cheese and spinach and bacon bite. I tell you there is no better oyster rockerfella then New Orleans' Anothny, have not find one better elsewhere yet ! The grouper however is fantastic, cook just right, fall apart and juicy (not over done to a dry white color in the middle that I hate). In addition, beer (YingLing or something like that) was $2.5 each. 3 beers cost less than some other places charge for 1 beer. Definitely a spring break or happy hours joint.

We always stop at PJ's during our vacation to SPB. It is by far one of the best restaurants in the area. My husband had the Jack Daniels salmon, rice and side salad -- fish cooked to perfection, excellent rice and fresh greens -- not salty or dredged with seasonings. I had the salad topped with a scoop of crab salad, a scoop of shrimp salad and a scoop of tuna. All very excellent. The portions are big and the prices are very reasonable. Service is usually quick and the staff is friendly. Will definitely come back on our next visit to Florida.

    (5)
  • Jeremiah W.

Long John Silvers has better seafood than this place. A salad consists of large wet pieces of iceberg with a few rotten bits. The grilled shrimp were not properly deveined and had no sign of being grilled. The grouper was a piece of flavorless white fried fish. So disappointing.

Cozy and fun little place on St Pete Beach. Easy access. Food is great! Local shopping near by. All within walking distance. Can't go wrong here!

  • Anna S.

I always like going to P.J.'s. It's just one of those Florida places you have to visit. Booth, table & bar seating available. They already have some tables set up to accommodate larger parties without needing to necessarily call ahead. Lunch specials daily. Great blackened grouper sandwich at a good price. If you like a side salad with your meal, I recommend it here with 2 sides of house vinagarette (as the salad is a good size). This may be the only place on the beach that serves fresh hush puppies too! Good size dinner plate of fresh from the gulf fried shrimp. Kid friendly for sure. Servers will bring you a discount coupon to use at the adjoining ice cream & candy shop before you leave. You may keep the cup that your drink is served in as a souvenir.

The service was fantastic but the food was just okay. We started with the hot shrimp appetizer and they were good. We had a bowl of gumbo which was not good. It tasted like a can of vegetable soup. The raw oysters were fine. The cocktail sauce that was on the table tasted like tomato paste. The kids didn't complain about their food and they didn't have any leftovers to bring back. My husband and I shared an entree and it was pretty good.

  • Nancy H.

Good fresh seafood prepared exactly as we expected. The oysters were from Louisiana and very plump! The lunch specials can be ordered until 5:00pm. The seafood platter was fresh with shrimp and the best clams I have ever eaten and flounder with two sides. Everything's was great.

  • Layne S.

Good meal. Mahi Mahi had good flavor. Nice selection for kids. Family friendly. Fair prices. PJ'S punch is a strong drink but good, lol. Grouper was on the bland side. Super cute idea with paper towels hanging on coat hangers above the ceiling and dollar bills with customer names on walls.

seated at 7:00, left by 9:30. 20 minutes just to take order. Another hour till the meals were on the table. Watched a larger party seated 20 minutes later order, get and finish their food before ours was served...and served cold! Server blamed cook. No manager came to table. Gave us three slices of pie for 8 adults. We watched our server drink a beer while our glasses remained empty.

I used to love eating oysters here but not anymore since it's not oyster season. Cool staff, will come back during the season

The Buffalo Wings were perfect! I'm very particular about how I like my wings done and PJ's gets them right every time.

This is the place to be if you're looking for authenticity, great atmosphere, and above all great food! Upon entering this place you get a sense St. Pete, Florida and what it has to offer. The food here was recommended by the people at Treasure Island over the Ocean Bar down the street. It was a great recommendation. The place is big enough for a large party with the set up resembling an old school diner where you come to hang out with friends and enjoy the juke box (there is no juke box available but you get my point). The staff is friendly and the food arrived on time. I ordered the Lobster Alfredo with Chicken on the side. It was hot and delicious. Others at my table ordered fried oysters and snow crab which were devoured as soon as it was placed on the table. Oh and the clan chowder was scrumptious with thick clam and hearty potatoes and sauce. All in all if you want to experience true Floridian culture, come here and get treated to a wonderful meal. I would recommend you come after you're done with the beach.

Overall wonderful experience:) Shirley our waitress, was prompt, nice, and on the ball! Kids fried shrimp a hit with my son. Fried oysters and raw very good:) Great beer selection and the restaurant was CLEAN. so often beach restaurants think they get a pass on cleanliness... These guys nailed it. Parking a little strange, so if can walk or drive recommend it:)

Love this place. Really good food and nice staff. I always get the grouper anything. My wife gets something different every time and always likes it. My kids even eat the fried fish. New location is nice and a bit bigger.

  • Adam R.

Yuck. That was my experience in a nutshell. My wife and I went with our family, who touted this place as the second coming of food. We went in, and immediately felt like we were in a dive, which is fine, but the server was rude, the service was slow, and there honestly aren't many options here. The options they do present you with leave MUCH to be desired. So much so, that after looking around at other diners plates, I ordered a BURGER from a seafood spot. It was exceptionally "Meh", as were the rest of the plates our family received. We seemed to overhear other diners having similar experiences to ours. We will not be back when we are in the area again. There are better establishments, better food, and better prices found elsewhere.

Went to this place to get specifically OYSTERS! It is there name! They were out of oysters. Only way I will return is if we are with someone that really wants to go.

First of this was the best restaurant with great service and great food/prices. Saw the place as we came into the area read some revirws. It will be my go to place. A must go if you want quality and atmosphere. I can't say anything bad about it. Incredible!!!!

    (5)
  • Robert S.

all 10 of us had cold food. If you like cold food and bad service it's the place to go.

  • Jay T.

We chose this place as a fall back when Woody's on the waterfront was too busy. We did enjoy our food as it was good and plentiful. I just wish the place felt more inviting. I had the fresh grouper that was good, my only complaint is that it was a bit on the small side. Our drinks were just OK, nothing that really stood out. I would most likely not go back unless other restaurants in the area are too busy again. I wish i could give them 3.5 stars.

My favorite seafood place on St. Pete beach. This is where the locals eat and the food is good. Stone crab prices are better than anywhere else!

  • Bernie Z.

First time at PJ's. Had Maddy's Combo: Mahi-mahi and shrimp, blackened. It was excellent. Had broccoli as my veggie. Requested el dante, and it was. Prices and quality were great. I thought the paper towels hanging from the ceiling was an interesting touch.

I do not understand the good reviews here. This place must make a killing off of tourists. They're way overpriced for the quality and amount of food. The place seemed like it was trying a little to hard to be a beachy, dive, seafood place. It was a little worn out and tired looking, and the carpet looked like it was around 70 years old. I stopped here yesterday with my parents after spending the afternoon at Ft. Desoto. I had planned on taking the scenic route home to Clearwater and was going to stop for dinner some place in Treasure Island or Indian Rocks Beach, but my Father was throwing a conniption fit about being hungry and needing to eat right then. The 3 minutes more it would take to get to Treasure Island was to long, so we stopped here because I was tired of the complaining. I wish I had dealt with it just a little longer. I ordered the grouper sandwich, blackened. It was slightly over cooked, but not terribly so. The size of the fillet was very thin, quarter inch or less. It cost $11.99 which is a total rip off for what I was served. There are much better, larger, and cheaper offerings at other restaurants. My parents both ordered the shrimp dinner, my Father got them broiled, and my Mother got them fried. Both were way over cooked, tiny little rubbery frozen shrimps not much larger than what I would call popcorn shrimp. The cost on these was $14.99. A total rip off. We drank water, and still our bill was $42.00 before tax and tip, for close to the worst seafood I've had. I will not return, and would advise all others not to go in the first place.

We werent initally greeted when we walked in the hostess who was also our waitress decided to finish her conversation with another server before seating us. Oysters are great and fresh! They don't season crabs so I passed. Fried clams here are a waste of your taste buds I only say that because its overpriced for the amount of food you get and the batter is nothing to brag about unless u cover it in hotsauce. The mac and cheese tasted like a side in a frozen dinner. I was born and raised in Florida but I still love the fact that it looks like a tourist trap. I think its great you can sign a dollar bill and staple it anywhere in the restaurant im all about making memories and that is a fun touch to dinner and drinks. I AM GIVING 3 STARS BECAUSE THE OYSTERS ARE AMAZING..

Great place to get seafood! I go to PJ's at least once a year for my sister's birthday because she loves to get their snow crab legs. So it was her birthday and I went with her, her grandma, and one of her friends. I ordered a soda because I wanted another souvenir cup. The cups are a staple in my house. It's stone crab season so I opted for the stone crab appetizer. They came out cracked for me, which I really appreciated. The portion and the price was right! For dinner, I had the blackened fish tacos, which came with a side of my choice. I chose the coleslaw. The coleslaw was average. The tacos were delicious. The best meal from PJ's that I've tried yet! The fish was light and perfectly seasoned. The inside and decor was like an older style seafood place found a beach. Even though it had an old feel to it, it was clean. The server was very attentive and nice. I'm not going to wait for my sister's birthday to come back around to have those tacos. I'm going back soon!

We've eaten here a few times over the years when in the area on vacation. It's a neat atmosphere, but the food is not anything impressive. Was it bad? No. But was it memorable? Certainly not.

One of those great hole in the wall finds. It may not have the look od fine dining but its some of the best food. We have been looking for true Gulf Shrimp and we found it. Their steamed shrimp is amazing! Biggest, freshest shrimp on the Gulf Coast.!!!! We also had the Gator Bites and they were delicious! The service was great, friendly on top of everything we would have our drinks filled before they ran out and she was always on top of making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to be back!

We love the selection of fresh seafood combined with delicious sides like hush puppies and coleslaw. One of the best grouper sandwiches around! And they have Yuengling beer!

Four Stars for the bar staff and the service and friendliness....we are locals, but everyone is treated with the same smile, great service, and menu suggestions. There is a reason they have been in business for so many years..... You would not be disappointed.

  • Christie M.

Eh... It was ok. Not very memorable. Fried gator, coconut shrimps, oysters on the half shell, clam chowder. I felt horrible after eating all the fried food. But the clam chowder were yummy. Only thing the kids would eat.

    (2)
  • Doug H.

Very friendly servers. But the chicken wings and fried shrimp weren't up to the competition. The chicken wings were floating in a butter sauce and make them very greasy. The fried shrimp was good but nothing special and there is better fried shrimp to be found at some of the other local restaurants. Our group also had the stuffed flounder which they reported was good. The ribs were tender and tasty.

  • Kevin T.

This is the place for oysters out on the St. Pete Beach side. $6.99 for a dozen raw on the half shell. Great quality...decent sized oysters (see pic)...nicely blended cocktail sauce...with plenty of extra horseradish on the side...all served up well. Crabby Bill's used to be my fave for oysters on SPB, but PJs does a better job time after time. Big selection of beers on display at the bar with a half dozen or so drafts too. As far as atmosphere: More of a restaurant with a big dining area. You will likely see your grandmother & her friends having lunch there. They have a couple small TVs, so it's not a sports bar. And not beach shack as they are not on the water. But...PJs is great for oysters and an excellent starting point for a Pub Crawl around Sunset Way over to Woody's. Great service too.

  • Paula B.

My husband and I eat here every so often. It is solid, fresh seafood - nothing to write home about. This past week, I had blackened scallops and asked for them to go light on the oil - they did not, which rendered the scallops pretty greasy (the blackening could barely adhere). My husband's blackened grouper fared much better. Salads are so-so (iceberg) and sides are average. At least they offer veggies, which are usually fresh but bland :) The gumbo weas decent - we like it spicier, but it was nicely balanced and full of seafood. This seems to be a good place for families. Can be loud, and always seems very busy!

    (3)
  • Christopher B.

PJ's oyster bar is a waste of good seafood... or rather bad seafood. In a place with so many seafood restaurants, I have not figured out how this place stays busy. Now let me qualify that with, I do not like oysters so maybe they have amazing oysters but I love fish. I grew up with off the docks fresh fish. This was not fresh fish. OK this place is an oyster bar with a bar feel and bar food plus fish at not so bar like prices. In fact it is at almost bonefish grill sort of prices. Guess where I would rather go? Well not bonefish since I prefer local flavor but you get my point. I ordered Mahi and it was either frozen or old. Our fried mozzarella spit the cheese out of the wrapper which means that the fryer is at the wrong temperature. Our drinks were weak and expensive. All in all, I could think of a million and one ways to waste $40 a person. PJ's is not anywhere near the top of the list. Go to Dockside Daves for much better fish.

  • Catalina F.

This place is definitely not the place to eat at on your vacation. When I walked in the first thing I read was there customer service sign. Very harsh if you ask me. The waiter was very standoffish. We ordered the steamed mussels that were soaked in butter. Not good at all. Had to send it back. The calamari was ehh... As well as the calm chowder. They should call it BJ's not PJ's cause it blows.

First time here. The blackened grouper sandwich was delicious; large, juicy, flaky filet and the sweet potato chips are to die! And even got a souvenir take home cup, all for 12 bucks!!

    (5)
  • Bethany C.

Food was subpar considering we are less than a half mile from the ocean. Service was horrible. Signs on the wall that said the more you tip the nicer we are should have been a notice to the staff if you were nice to the customers they will tip you better. Last night I had dinner and tipped 35% tonight I barely left 8%. This isn't the place to get good seafood and service on st. Pete's beach.

  • Allison B.

Pj's is something my entire family looks forward to everytime we make our trip down to St. Pete! The staff is always extremely friendly, the food is always amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect! I always order the giant lobster tail, it never dissapoints! I absolutely can't wait till our next trip to pj's!!

This is a great quirky place for excellent seafood. We had the Chicago Style Oysters which were very good and not over cooked. We also had Raw Clams and the Tuna Sashimi. Both were fresh and tasty. For an entree I had the combo platter with grouper, shrimp and scallops. I had to pay a little extra to get the scallops in a sherry, garlic, butter sauce but it was so incredibly worth it. The grouper was blackened to perfection and the shrimp was grilled. It was great that I was able to order the 3 different items, 3 different ways. The only minor problem I had was selecting my entree. Practically everything on the menu sounded amazing. The price for a seafood dinner for 2 was very reasonable and I absolutely recommend going to PJ's.

  • s f.

Surprised by all the good reviews. The best items we had were French fries and our drinks. The oysters were almost to the point I sent them back!! Tasted like they were not so fresh and they were served sitting on a few ice cubes- some of which were melted and a few inside the oyster shell- kinda making a waterless to them- not good! ( used to them sitting above ice not in) the chowder was about as good as Campbell's soup and the grouper sandwich was ok. For the price and fact that we r so close to fresh fish I felt it should have been a lil better.

  • Tony J.

Came here to get some crabs with my aunt and uncle, and they were pretty delicious, but pretty dang pricey. The portions were pretty small, for example to soup and salad were pretty small, but they looked pretty good. The crabs were realllllyyyy good, and the dijon sauce was yummy! Plus, the side of broccoli was also delicious! Like I said though, the portions are pretty small for what you are paying

PJ's is a solid seafood option on the beach. The large seating area means wait times usually are not too bad. I had a fried group sandwich and it was decent. Not as good as my favorite place on the beach, but OK. The prices are reasonable and service is typically quite good. Very kid friendly place as it's usually quite noisy in here.

I really should not be allowed to review seafood places because I don't eat seafood. It's like a vegetarian rating a steak joint. You may take my review with a grain of salt. (haha so apt because its seafood! I'm hilarious!). This place was crazy packed on a Tuesday and it was close to the holidays so that may be good evidence that people enjoy it here. The happy hour deals are pretty good. My family liked the oysters VERY much and they were at the right price. I like the live parrot near the door; I like the silly novelty signs and paper towels hanging from plastic chains on coat hangers. I think our server was pretty busy and would flutter in and out like a humming bird, only touching down long enough to hear one request and then he was off again. I had to yell after him a couple times, only once successfully, to come back cause I needed a drink. That being said, he did comply with all requests when he stayed long enough to hear them and he was really nice. I did enjoy the fried green beans a lot. I liked that I could get a good serving of vegetables but I did have to pay to substitute them with my burger instead of french fries. My burger was a regular diner burger. Portions were large; everybody was content at the end. Try it out if you're looking for an oyster deal while visiting St. Pete beach.

First a vent: Crabs creep me the hell out. I still feel 1/2 serving of snow crab bears an uncanny likeness to Freddy Kruger's hand. Nevertheless, opting for the rare Tuna steak over my girlfriend's order of horror film on a plate (see profile pic, no bueno), i found it to be very rich in flavor. The selection was vast and abundant. Prices were not outlandish and on par with the quality of fare served. Perhaps more notable was the wonderful selection of adult beverages which complemented the menu. Outdoor seating was preferred over the ire and chaos of the inside dinning availability. Not terrible at all.

The service was good. The food was not... Ordered the coconut Shrimp,Way over cooked and chewy. My husbands shrimp alfredo had hardly any shrimp. Too much sauce. The mixed drinks were much to small for the price. I would not recoomend this place.

We are so glad we chose PJ's and couldn't have asked for better seafood. We ordered raw oysters, steamed shrimp, gumbo and hush puppies. All were fantastic. Oysters were large and fresh, shrimp was very tasty and the rest was worth ordering again too. We are staying the night in St. Pete from out of town and didn't have any idea where to go. We searched yelp for seafood in St. Pete Beach and found a few restaurants. We debated since the prices were less expensive at PJ's vs. other restaurants. Oysters are half the price compared to other places! Say Whaaat!?! We thought that might be a bad sign. Not true - they're great and large! We're back at the hotel and we both feel like we found a great seafood place and are looking forward to visiting again.

Seafood, glorious seafood! The lobster tail, Alaskan King crab legs, peel-n-eat shrimp and stone crab were delicious. The outdoor patio is quaint, shaded and more my speed than the crowed, maybe a little too family-oriented indoors. The oysters, ironically, were the least tasty item we ordered. There was nothing *wrong* with them, and to be totally fair it is off-season, just saying, if we're putting things in order, they were at the bottom of the list. Overall, a really great experience with a wonderfully friendly staff.

Best and cheapest seafood on the beach. Service is usually great, but bear in mind that even in the off season they can have a wait for dinner. I've been going there for years- love the crab (all of it), mussels, shrimp, and clams. They also have a mighty selection of bottled beers, more than most beach seafood places. If you don't like shellfish, try their salmon. Veggies are also almost always just right- they don't taste like they've sat in a steamer tray for hours. Gumbo is made on site and it- what's the word? Oh, yeah. Rocks. It rocks. Scallops, shrimp and other seafood bits, and they don't scrimp on it. It's also not at all salty, which can be a problem with soups. Anyone who says this food is just average is probably getting their seafood fried, or not getting the seafood at all. That's fine, but don't expect great things when you take a fine piece of fish, roll it in batter and fry the hell out of it.
